Deep in the Real-Life Tom Sawyer's Cave: Mark Twain's Hometown inspiration

Date: May 24, 2019 Duration: 26m 49s
The Ghosts and the Glory of Hannibal, Missouri. Here is Mark Twain's boyhood home and the REAL LIFE inspiration for Tom Sawyer's cave and the Disneyland caves based on the books. Called McDougal's cave in Tom Sawyer, in Sam Clemens' day the cave was known as McDowell's cave, after a Mad Doctor who tried to preserve dead bodies, including the body of his own daughter, in the very cave we venture into. Of Course we visit the inside of the Boyhood Home, see the Mighty Mississippi river, and walk the Streets of Hannibal, or Tom Sawyer's "St. Petersburg" at the dead of night, Just like Tom & Huck Finn. 10:10 disappointed me when I came here is that
10:10 disappointed me when I came here is that the river runs much lower and is much
10:13 the river runs much lower and is much
10:13 the river runs much lower and is much narrower than it was in Mark Twain's
10:14 narrower than it was in Mark Twain's
10:14 narrower than it was in Mark Twain's time but this time I know it's kind of
10:16 time but this time I know it's kind of
10:16 time but this time I know it's kind of hard to tell the river is running really
10:18 hard to tell the river is running really
10:18 hard to tell the river is running really high so it's much wider than normal
10:21 high so it's much wider than normal
10:21 high so it's much wider than normal making it a lot closer to the old Mark
